Up until the summer of 2023 it was a 4-year research-program supported by the A.P.Møller Foundation, and the goal was to find ways to help vulnerable families to make sustainable changes.

A team of 10 workers with different professional backgrounds moved into an area in Aarhus called Gellerup, which is known in Denmark as an area that are challenged by a high unemployment rate, a higher crime-rate, low rate of education, a population with a majority of people of other ethnic background than Danish – and different challenges according to the children.

Pernille Randrup-Thomsen will in her keynote take us through the results of the program and give overall insights in the methods developed in the program.

Due to the results the council of Aarhus decided in the fall of 2023 to make this way of work a permanent approach not only in Gellerup, but also in 2 other challenged areas of Aarhus.

Pernille Randrup-Thomsen er uddannet socialrådgiver i 1989 og har siden da været ansat i Aarhus kommune. Ca. 10 år som sagsbehandler – først som generalist og sidenhen hovedsageligt på beskæftigelsesområdet. Dette blev efter fulgt af 20 år som afdelingsleder i Jobcentret på området for udsatte unge. Og i 2019 blev hun leder af  'Opgang til opgang' i Gellerup i Aarhus, som i 2023 vandt prisen "Den Gyldne Socialrådgiver". De anerkendes for deres dedikation til at omdefinere og forbedre arbejdsindsatsen inden for beskæftigelse, med en betydelig vægt på tværfagligt samarbejde og relationel velfærd. Dette ses som en vej mod beskæftigelse og livskvalitet for sårbare familier.
